Flashpoint 2, the second global Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) tournament series from team-owned esports organization B Site, Inc., concluded today as Virtus.pro defeated OG 2-1 (10-16, 16-9, 16-12) taking home $500,000 and the new street art-inspired AK-47 Trophy customized by Timmy “SLOTH” Ham. Virtus.pro, with its eyes on the largest CS:GO prize pool in 2020 of $1 million, won the Grand Final as an open qualifier to Flashpoint 2.
“Flashpoint 2 was a test for all the changes we’ve made over the last six month, both in our active roster and in approach to the training process. The team demonstrated their will to win and the highest level of skill that allowed us to get to the finals from the open qualifier,” said Sergei Glamazda, CEO for Virtus.pro. “Today’s victory proves that we are on the right track. Virtus.pro beat Fnatic 2-1 to advance to the Grand Final, while OG toppled Fnatic 2-0 in the Consolation Final to play Virtus.pro for the title.

Despite competing against other CS:GO tournaments concurrently, online viewership for Flashpoint 2 featured over 7 million hours watched and a record peak of 206,000+ concurrent viewers during the tournament series (Fnatic vs MIBR).

The teams participating (with global rankings) in Flashpoint 2 for a piece of the $1 million prize pool were B Site founding teams – Cloud9 (#27), c0ntact, Dignitas VIE, Gen.G, MAD Lions (#24), MIBR (#25), Team Envy – along with invitations to BIG (#5), Fnatic (#14), forZe (#28), OG (#6), and Virtus.Pro (#16).
Along with the intense competition, original content was a key storyline during Flashpoint 2 with in-depth player interviews and in-studio skits which included additional artwork from Timmy “SLOTH” Ham used as backdrops for the Flashpoint-created comedy skits. The on-air team in London included Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, Duncan “Thorin” Shields, James “BARDOLPH” Bardolph, Anders “Anders” Blume, Christine “potter” Chi, Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg, Alex “hawka” Hawkins, Allan Hender, Auguste “Semmler” Massonnat, and Freya Spiers.
Flashpoint 2 also partnered with Swedish rock band Smash Into Pieces whose song, “All Eyes On You,” has served as the theme song for the competition as well as the hype video showcasing the final 8 teams in the tournament series.
Flashpoint 2 could not have happened without its partners. Pinnacle Esports provided fans with online betting experiences. Twitch was the preferred streaming partner. Esports Charts and GRID provided data and statistics solutions during the tournament series. StatsHelix’s Post-Match Analysis software in partnership with FACEIT allowed Flashpoint’s analyst team to easily break down complex plays for stream viewers and create exciting content between and after matches.
