LOS ANGELES (April 9th, 2021) – Flashpoint, the global Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) tournament series from B Site, Inc., will return with its third iteration as an official Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event for the European region. The Flashpoint 3 main event will begin on May 10th, 2021 and will feature a 16 team double-elimination bracket played out over 3 weeks of competition.

Flashpoint 3 will extend invitations to 11 European teams based on their RMR points from 2020, including Astralis, Vitality, Heroic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, BIG, Fnatic, G2, OG, FunPlus Phoenix, FaZe, and the former North roster. To fill out the remainder of the 16 available slots, 4 open qualifiers will feed into a closed qualifier to determine the remaining 5 teams. Open qualifiers begin on April 13th, 2021 and closed qualifiers begin on April 27th, 2021.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic the last CS:GO Major occurred in 2019, creating enormous anticipation for this November’s event among fans. Flashpoint 3 will draw significant viewership as the first step towards the Major in the world’s most talented region, with projected viewership of over 330,000 peak concurrent viewers and 19 million viewed hours. This excitement is already capturing the attention of the sports betting, cryptocurrency, and energy drink industries, with Flashpoint engaging in conversations around unique activations.

Flashpoint 3 competitors will be playing online to ensure the highest standards for safety around COVID-19, while the broadcast will take place from the FACEIT studios in Los Angeles.  Broadcast production and talent will be on-site in LA with the matches played in the afternoon and evening of the European time zones.

Flashpoint’s tournament operations partner FACEIT will handle all league operations, rules, logistics, and issues of competitive integrity to ensure there are no conflicts of interest between Flashpoint’s partner teams and the event itself.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Valve as an RMR event as we approach the Stockholm Major,” said Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, VP of B Site. “And we’re excited to increase the quality of competition in Flashpoint while continuing our high standards for production and content. We think that Flashpoint 3 will offer fans a thrilling kick-off to the Major cycle and give brands significant exposure to the CSGO audience.”

“FACEIT looks forward to our continuing partnership with Flashpoint and we are excited to return to Valve’s official circuit after we produced the London Major”, said Michele Attisani, co-founder and CBO of FACEIT.

Virtus.pro took home the Flashpoint 2 title after defeating OG by a score of 2-1 on December 6th, 2020.  Flashpoint tournaments in 2020 proved to be among the most popular Counter-Strike events in the world, combining for over 15 million viewed hours and peaking at 280,000 concurrent viewers.
